You will note from the photo that George Angas was the stand in meat carver who stood up, well to the banter. A toast was taken to the Senior Section and absent friends

Mike Webb paid a tribute to Bill Jasper an old Senior captain who passed away this year.

One moment to treasure was the “good” joke told by the current Captain Mickey Barber, he certainly saved the “best for Last”.

The days competition was won by Mickey Barber

12 of us attended the dinner this year and it was great to see George Angus return to the club after a very lengthy illness. We think that George has managed to employ a miracle worker for a surgeon as he looks younger than when he last attended the club in February!

The Stableford competition for the Past Captains Cup was won by Mickey Barber with a score of 36 points – he played steadily all the way round and hardly missed a fairway. The course was in excellent condition after the recent rains and the day was a little cool but bright. Someone was obviously watching over us as a sharp shower arrived as we all settled down to dinner. We all enjoyed the meal of roast beef, horseradish sauce and traditional veg followed by cheese & biscuits or apple tart & custard (there were no complaints). Port was served by John McStavick who kindly took on the role of organiser for the second year running.

12 Past Captains attended this year with 11 of us attending the dinner. Unfortunately Roger Chivers could not stay for the group photo. It was great to see Chris Garrod who has been undergoing lengthy hospital treatment. He looks really well and is progressing remarkably well. Mike Webb also managed to join us accompanied by his crutches as he recovers from an ankle operation. The Stableford competition for the Past Captains Cup was won by George Angas (ACB)  with a score of 37 points. George, John McStravick & Tim Law played together and all scored 37, but George’s 20 points on the back 9 sealed his triumph. Unfortunately the trophy was not available for presentation due to the recent break-in. The course was in excellent condition and it was a beautiful day with early autumn sun. Barbara cooked us an excellent  meal  of  roast beef, horseradish sauce and traditional veg   followed by cheese & biscuits or apple tart & custard . Port was served by Martin Carter who was this years organiser.
