The George Kell & John Ford Shields

Winter Eclectic Competition

This is operated in conjunction with the Farmer competitions. The eclectic score is the lowest gross score at each hole for the duration of the Farmer programme. A gross score is not counted if no Stableford points were scored. No handicap allowance is deducted from the total eclectic score. The competition is in two divisions, upto 18 and 19 or over, as decided by the handicaps on the day of the first Farmer Competition.

Division 1 is up to 18 handicap and division 2 is 18 to 28 handicap.
The George Kell Shield is presented to the winner of division 1 and The John Ford Shield to the winner of division 2. If either competition is tied the Shields are shared as there are no count back systems in these competions. George Kell was a member of the Senior Men’s section as was John Ford also. George was a lecturer in Higher Education and was a qualified glider pilot. He died in 1999.
