IAN ROPER PGA Professional Corhampton Golf Club from 1996 to present
In 1996 we welcomed our new PGA professional Ian Roper from Portsmouth who was Captain of the Hampshire PGA in 1996. What a prized asset we gained as a popular teacher, businessman (see the well stocked shop at competitive prices) and a club professional who participates in all aspects of Corhampton Golf Club life. We hope he remains with us for many years to come.
Ian is ably supported by PGA assistant professional Matthew Tryhorn and staff assistant Adam Reid. Individual and group coaching sessions (up to eight people ) may be booked through the shop with either Ian or Matthew.
MORE than two years after a major road accident Ian Roper, Corhampton’s club professional, made a winning return to Hampshire PGA action when he led his team of Rob Giddings, Chris Milne and Ken Lawrie to victory in the Romsey GC Pro-Am. It was Ian’s first appearance in a Hampshire PGA Tournament following the accident in May 2003, which had threatened to end his playing career
The former Hampshire PGA Match-play and Short Course Champion had to endure many months of treatment before being able to return to competitive action. Ian and his team shot an impressive sixteen under-par score of 122 to win the competition by one shot.
Ian reached the final of the PGA National Pro-Am Championship back in 2006 with then-partner Brian Harvey.
Corhampton GC has since 2009 developed a School/Club Link programme with Bishops Waltham Junior School which has given 13 children aged between 8 & 11 years of age the benefit of golf coaching from the Club professional Ian Roper a level 3 PGA Coach.

Sam and Tracey Boyes – Quick Introduction March 2022
Sam and Tracey Boyes (brother and sister) have joined Corhampton as Elite golfers and hopefully you will find them using our practice facilities.
Sam said: We played in a fun tournament in the Hampshire PGA event at Portsmouth golf centre. I managed to get into the semi-finals and Tracey played well but missed out.
We are both playing at a PGA south region event next Monday 1st March at Sunningdale Heath golf club. The week after we will then be teaming up to play in Sunningdale foursomes.
Our season won’t start fully till April. We both will be playing our British open qualifiers and Tracey will be competing in the US open qualifying. I will be playing PGA Hampshire and south Region events, with a few mini tour events this year. Tracey will most likely stick with Hampshire PGA events as she is just finishing her second year of the PGA and has to work in the shop she is at (Royal Winchester).
I will be playing more under Corhampton banner this year as I have finished my PGA. Tracey has to play under the club she is working at while she completes her PGA qualifications.
