Corhampton Golf Club Captain’s Charity 2014
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance
On a blustery day in March, at the invitation of Community Fundraiser Ian Browning, your 2014 Captains Alan Peters, Mike Pack and Anna Jacobs visited the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance airbase in Thruxton to see at first hand what the members of Corhampton Golf Club had been raising money for last year.
We were blessed with a dry, cloudy afternoon and were treated to an hour or so of personal attention from the crew on duty that day, answering all sorts of questions about their work and the helicopter. They were a very happy team who seemed to have plenty of time to chat with us. We were made very welcome and were thanked profusely for the donation made last year. You may remember that we raised a magnificent total of just under £9,000 and were advised that this amount would cover around 5 missions.
I think we were all secretly hoping that we might be able to see the helicopter lift off, and unbelievably after an hour, the alarm bell rang and the team calmly went into action, moving from chatting with us to lift off in around 4 minutes. It was a magnificent sight for us to watch from such close range – we even got a wave from Vicki as they took off.
Next you can see our 2014 Captains with Kelvin (Doctor), Vicki (Paramedic), Stu (Pilot) and Steve (Coastguard Observer)
Many thanks to all Corhampton members who last year helped raise such a wonderful amount for this worthwhile cause.
Alan Peters, Captain 2014
